From: Pieter Stouten EMBL-HEIDELBERG DE> Date: 7 may 1992 Subject: Tournament Announcements TEAM MATCH / QUICK PLAY DOUBLE EVENT ==================================== On MAY 30 and 31, 1992 the famous "double event" takes place in Utrecht, Netherlands. It consists of a team match with handicaps on Saturday and a quick play tournament on Sunday. Teams can be assembled on the spot and everybody who is present can play. You can take part in one tournament but not the other if you like. Personally, I like the event very much and I will definitely go, and so will many other people from Germany, Holland, Belgium etc. Please contact the organizer Marc Theeuwen mbfys kun nl> soon for more information and/or hotel reservation. Since 28 May (Ascension Day) is a holiday for many people, one may combine playing in the tournament(s) with a visit to Amsterdam, Utrecht or other places to sniff some culture and enjoy the night life. SHOGI WORKSHOP =============== Another very interesting event will be organized soon. On JUNE 20 and 21 a Shogi Workshop will take place at EMBL. On Saturday 20 we will have lectures for beginners and advanced players covering various Shogi-related topics, Japanese Shogi-videos with translations in English, group sessions to discuss Shogi-technical matters like openings, shape, mating, and as top of the bill JAPANESE FOOD. The Sunday will be devoted to quick-play Shogi and generally having fun. Please mark these dates in your diary as well. Free overnight accommodation will be provided on a first come, first served basis. It is possible for players to stay longer or come earlier in order to spend a short holiday in the Heidelberg area. Please contact the organizers Alan Sawyer embl-heidelberg de> or John Kenney embl-heidelberg de> directly for more information. Pieter Stouten embl-heidelberg de>
