Crane's Shogi is quite weak. Version 0.3A2 is somewhat better than 0.21 but quite buggy. You will have to contact him yourself. There are some 30 or 40 programs for the NEC 98 PC series, but they don't run on anything but a Japanese PC. They cost anywhere between 580 and 18000 (18 thousand) yen (information January 1990). I have no idea about their strength. Professional Shogi player AND Shogi program author Mr. Hiroyuki Iida TUATG TUAT AC JP> has written a program for Suns in LISP. I don't know whether that one is publicly available. You can check with him. And then there is of course Shogi Master IBM PC clones. It is sold by Ishi Press. It claims to be about 2-kyu (ELO 1600-1700, I guess) on top level. It costs in the order of 30 pounds sterling plus postage and packing. Ishi Press can be reached at: * Ishi Press International, 76 Bonaventura Drive, San Jose, CA 95134, USA.
