Subject: EMBL Shogi tournament

Dear Shogi friend,
 
As many of you may already know, Pieter Stouten is leaving the EMBL at the
end of June this year.  Therefore to honor Pieter's contribution to Shogi
in Germany and "to play some Shogi and have some fun", we are pleased to
announce
 
	  THE EMBL PIETER STOUTEN MEMORIAL HANDICAP TOURNAMENT
			  25 and 26 April 1992
	    at the EMBL, Meyerhofstrasse 1, 6900 Heidelberg.
 
The first round will start at 10:30 on Saturday morning, 25 April.
The time limit per game and number of rounds will depend on how
many players we have.  The handicap system to be employed will be
a slightly modified version of the standard handicapping system
used in Shogi (based on the difference in rated strength of the
two players).  Participants are requested to bring sets and clocks
(if they have them).
 
There will be limited free accommodation available on a first come
first served basis (so if anyone wants to take advantage of a free
bed they should act quickly and contact John!)  There will be coffee
available during the day and there is a quaint farm restuarant near
the playing venue where we can eat lunch.  Also, Heidelberg has plenty
of evening entertainment.
 
	To get to EMBL
1) take the A5 (direction Heidelberg)
2) at the Heidelberg Autobahn Kreuz take the direction to Heidelberg
3) go in the direction "Zentrum"
4) at Bismark Platz (which is a big traffic circle or roundabout) turn
   right onto Rohrbacher Str. (direction Rohrbach)
5) follow Rohrbacher Str. for about 1 km
6) then turn left on to Steiger Weg (sign posted EMBL)
7) follow Steiger Weg up the hill (it has many twists and turns, but just
   stay on the main road) following signs to EMBL.
8) After driving through a little farm turn left at the sign for EMBL
9) drive up the road (200 meters) turn left and follow the road around
   to the right (past parking lots) and the front entrance of EMBL will
   be on the right hand side.
10)enter the building and turn right and my office is 4 doors down on the
   right hand side.
