I had been thinking "Maybe the rule still holds when you have 0 time on your clock, because as long as you move in 59 seconds or less, you have used no time so everything is ok", but now that I know that byoyomi takes over then, that is fine. (I don't wish to contribute to misinformation by printing nonsense in Italian - sadly, a magazine that talked to me at Giocare e Vivere this summer has just published a LONG article on Shogi which is absolutely FULL of crass mistakes. And I gave them a cardboard set with the rules. How they managed it I don't know - they say the lance can jump over any number of pieces, state the promotion rule in a totally incomprehensible way, say the Bishop gains the ability to go one space diagonally when it promotes and all sorts of other things. Sigh. I have "had words" with the editor, who says he will publish a correction next issue...)
