From: atkinson VAXROM CERN CH Date: 27 jul 1991 Subject: GBR Apparently GBR is a private TV station in Italy. I had never heard of it, but then I don't have a TV. Anyway, it was at C St A last night, and it came along to film Shogi for a few seconds. I can't imagine this will result in anything, but you never know. Wari seems much more popular with the punters, probably because the pieces are less scary at first sight. After weeks of my constant presence, some of the chess players are beginning to seem at least curious. The biggest help is that the chap who plays one game of Shogi each evening with me before going to play with the chess people turns out to know quite a lot of the others, and he has started prodding them into trying Shogi (and XiangQi and Wari) with some level of success. Sadly, they ask me questions which I really can't answer since I am not a strong enough player. When possible, I say "Well, I read in SHOGI/SFB/BMFBS that ...". Ah well. Back again this evening... Does anyone know what happens in Wari if it is my go, and the only move I have would capture all of the opponent's pieces? Adam Atkinson
