From: atkinson VAXROM CERN CH Date: 11 jul 1991 Subject: No Subject Look for a Japanese bookshop. There is one in London next to St Paul's Cathedral, and it has LOTS of books of Tsume-Shogi. I should think any city with a reasonably large Japanese community would have something similar. Try asking Japanese Culturual Centres or Embassies where you might look for such shops. Alternatively, write to Nihon Shogi Renmei or something. News: An Italian company has just starting making Shogi and Xiang-Qi sets. The prices are rather steep, but the boards are nice. The Xiang-Qi pieces are large, with Chinese characters as usual and the name in Italian across the bottom. The Shogi pieces in the set I saw were arrowed ones. Arg. There were also mistakes in the Shogi rules, so I phoned the company. The man who answered the phone seemed happy to have his rules corrected, and also said that he WILL start sending out Japanese pieces as well if it looks like there is a demand. At least now Citta` del Sole really does have some Shogi sets.
