Subject: Happy New Year. Oi match now complete. Help !

Hi Shogi fans,
 
First of all, let me use this opportunity to wish everybody a
prosperous New Year. Of course especially where Shogi is concerned.
 
I don't know about the rest of you, but to me it seemed that
Technion did not respond since 21-st December. I hope there is no
serious trouble, but I haven't got the faintest idea.
At my site, we experienced some trouble, too. At some nodes the networks
had been turned off during the X-mas holidays for reasons that I fail to
grasp. Unfortunately, we depend on those nodes for our communication with
the outside world. It is unfair that they deprive us of one of our basic
needs: electronic communication. To come to the point: if I did not seem
to reply to mails that you may have sent to me, I just gave the reason.
 
OK back to Shogi. Finally, I have typed in game 5 of the 31-st Oi match
between Tanigawa en Sato. I have added the game to the file with the scores
of the other games. Download by sending to Listserv@Technion the command:
GET OI MATCH-90
Murooka and Sato also wrote a full accompanying analysis, which I hope to
type in real soon, now.
You may have noticed that the stream of contributions to SHOGI-L has
somewhat petered out. I am the bottleneck, since I type in virtually all
material. I go begging again: please help me type it in. I will send
written material to people who are willing to hammer it into their
electronic devices. This could be one of the good deeds that you want to
do in the New Year !
