Subject: The final (?) word on "shikake(ru)"

Aono Teruchi, 8-dan gives in his Shogi Vocabulary for "shikakeru":
- to start the middle game
- to initiate a fight
 
I guess that "shikakeru" is an infinitive and that the corresponding noun is
"shikake." Anybody care to set me straight ?
