From: Pieter Stouten EMBL BITNET> Date: 26 oct 1990 Subject: First game of the Ryu O title match 1990 in the SHOGI-L archive ! As of today the first game of the third Ryu-O (= Dragon King or Promoted Rook when it concerns the Shogi piece) title match is available from the SHOGI-L archive. This game is a unique one because it is the first ever game of a major title match to be staged in Europe. It was the second one played outside Japan, the first one being game 2 of the 1985 Kisei title match which took place in Los Angeles. The game was played on 19-th and 20-th October 1990 in the Intercontinental Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany and features Tanigawa Koji (Oi, Oza) and Habu Yoshiharu (Ryu-O). It was live broadcasted to Japan and watched by the participants of the 6-th European Championship which took place at the same venue over the weekend of 20-th and 21-st October. Klaus Blumberg, president of Shogi Germany, obtained the game score directly from the score keeper and typed it in for you all. In order to retrieve the game send to LISTSERV TECHNION BITNET the command: GET SHOGI GAME23. Enjoy ! Pieter Stouten stouten embl bitnet stouten embl-heidelberg de
