From: Pieter Stouten EMBL BITNET> Date: 11 jul 1990 Subject: How to get your mail on SHOGI-L. There has been some confusion among SHOGI-L subscribers as to where to put the mail that they want to see on the discussion list and whether this mail needs special headers or anything like that. The first thing to bear in mind is that there is an essential and conceptual difference between: LISTSERV@TECHNION and SHOGI-L@TECHNION LISTSERV is the general listserver at Technion, which should be addressed in an exactly prescribed way (including special headers, keywords, passwords and more of that ilk). You can send commands to subscribe to a discussion list, retrieve files, get help about Listserv etc. SHOGI-L is a redistribution list. It just redistributes incoming mail. No special format is required for this mail. All subscribers can submit mail. The list is not moderated so everything sent there will be sent to everybody else on SHOGI-L. However, the person submitting a mail will not receive a redistributed copy of it, so you never know whether your mail made it to the list. You can change this setting by sending a mail/message/file to LISTSERV@TECHNION (not SHOGI-L !), containing the line: SET SHOGI-L REPRO Hope this ends some confusion. Now there should not be any obstacles anymore that prevent people from posting all their remarks, requests, questions, reviews to SHOGI-L. Cheers, Pieter Stouten embl bitnet>.
