From: Pieter Stouten EMBL BITNET> Date: 2 jul 1990 Subject: Two games corrected. Procedure for retrieving files from SHOGI-L The following games in the SHOGI-L archive have been corrected: Game 8 Pieter Stouten (1-dan ama) - Aono Teruichi (8-dan pro): 1-0. 13 Apr 1985. Teaching game: two piece handicap. England. No comment. 100 moves. Game 11 Nakahara Makoto (Meijin) - Yonenaga Kunio (9-dan pro): 1-0. 19 & 20 May 1987. 45-th Meijin title match, game 4 of 6. Japan. Annotation by professional. 133 moves. As usual, errors were pointed out to me by Klaus Blumberg DBSTU1 bitnet>. Thanks ! Also, welcome to the list: Reijer Grimbergen (Netherlands), second European Champion (1986). Some people asked about the procedure to retrieve files from the archive. Here it goes again. Just send a mail, interactive message or file to LISTSERV@TECHNION containing the line(s): GET In order to retrieve a description of the available Shogi games this line should read: GET GAMES DESCR To retrieve one or more of these games the body of the mail/message/file should be as follows: GET SHOGI GAMEx GET SHOGI GAMEy ... where, at the moment, x and y are numbers between 1 and 16. In order to get the complete list of available files, send a mail/message/file containing the line: GET SHOGI-L FILELIST The filelist provides an overview of all files with a short description of their contents. One should note that the SHOGI-L FILELIST contains lines that are longer than 80 characters. Consequently the file is sent to you in Listserver Punch format, which is normal ASCII, but a bit of a pain to read since it wraps long lines and every line is preceded by information about its length. If your computer does not choke when it gets files with records that are longer than 80 charcters, you can send the following file/message/file: GETND SHOGI-L FILELIST which sends the filelist in NetData format to you which is just another way of saying: 132 characters per line. Hope this helps. Cheers, Pieter Stouten embl bitnet>
