As far as I know there is no Shogi vailable for the IBM PCs. But there are
lots for the NEC equivalents. The difference is that the NECs have special
hardware to deal with Kanji.
Recently, however, a Japanese DOS version has seen the light and now you
can use ordinary PCs with the Japanese OS and (in principle) run Japanese
programs. The price of DOS 4.0 J is (if I remember well) 40,000 Yen.
Of course, you still don't have docs in English, but most programs are
pretty much self-explanatory.
