Part of the following has already been published on SHOGI-L, but I guess it can't do any harm to mention it again: Crane's Shogi version 0.21E for the Macintosh is available from the SHOGI-L archive in .sit .hqx format. It is a freeware Shogi playing program. Full documentation (including rules) is enclosed. The documentation should be printed with a non-proportional font (e.g. Monaco, Courier). In the mean time Shogi 0.3a2 has become available (and I will upload it to the SHOGI-L archive any time now). Differences are: 1) It can work under MultiFinder, now, and has other bugs fixed. 2) Menus are written in both Japanese and English. Automatically selected. 3) It can save and restore games. 4) It plays stronger than its predecessor. 5) It is easier to make the right choice in case promotion is possible. 6) No English documentation available, yet. Chris Sterritt's Hypercard stack is also available from the archive (also in .sit .hqx format). It is a pre-pre-release, and might not be supported in the future, but it contains valuable information for beginning Shogi players. In order to download the programs send the following command(s) GET SHOGI 021E GET SHOGI STACK to LISTSERV TECHNION BITNET. Crane's Shogi is available from info-mac sumex-aim stanford edu as /games/cranes-shogi-021.hqx, too. Hope this helps. Pieter Stouten embl bitnet>
